President of the Republic calls elections for August 24

In accordance to the Constitution of the Republic of Angola and the Organic Law on General Elections, following the National Electoral Commission’s favorable opinion regarding the existence of conditions for the 2022 general elections to be held within the constitutionally defined period, and after hearing the Council of the Republic, in obedience to the legally defined procedure, the President of the Republic convened the general elections for the election of the President of the Republic and the Deputies to the National Assembly and setted the date of 24 August 2022 for them to be held.

The Presidential Decree calling the elections takes effect on June 6, 2022
